Kosta Boda

With Mirage, the artist and designer Göran Wärff found inspiration from nature and light, especially in the reflection of light and optical illusions. The object is a sculpture, a vase, and an art piece, available in a wide range of colors. To create a spectacular object like Mirage, an angled pipe is used to form its distinctive curved shape. Mirage is handmade in Kosta, Sweden, and is part of the Kosta Boda Artist Collection.

Artistic and expressive by Anna Ehrner at her best. Swirling lines and veils of color have become something of Anna's personal trademark - setting off and standing out against each other in elegant contrast and making every piece unique.

How does a particular design come about? The inspiration for this 14 1/4" vase originated in the designer's love of music, the long necks of the bottles reminiscent of organ pipes. The colors were inspired by shimmering rainbows. Hand made and mouth blown in Sweden.

The Contrast series from Kosta Boda is manufactured using a technique called centrifugation. The technique, invented in Sweden's Kingdom of Crystal in the 1950s, creates veils of color inside the glass mass. In combination with the color powder and sticks added during the process, each piece becomes unique. The large blue/blue dish is perfect as serveware, or for fruits and other visual displays. The Kappa series is mouth-blown and inspired by the bubble - or kappa, in Swedish - that spills over the edge of the mold during the production process. The Kappa vases, big and small, are a tribute to Kosta Boda's long artisanal history. The new mini vase comes in three shapes, heights, and colorways. A playful take on their predecessors.
